My name is Kari, also known as The Madcap Baker. I'm a part-time cottage baker with a talent for creating delicious treats. Feeding people is one of my favorite things! Seeing a person's eyes light up when they try one of my recipes, brightens my day. I work in real estate finance by day and bake by night (or really any spare minute I have).
I've been baking since I was very young, sometimes for fun, sometimes for stress relief, but always for the joy it brings me to feed my friends and family. After much encouragement from my husband, Dominick, I've started sharing my amazing, and sometime wacky flavors with the world. Most of my recipes have been in the works for years, and some are newly developed. Cookies are my favorite, but love creating custom cakes, cupcakes, pies, swirl rolls and cheesecakes. If it involves dessert, I love to bake it. I mean, life's too short to not eat dessert first, right?
First, we do pronounce it "Bakery". That's a frequent question I get. It's a play on combining bakery with my name, Kari. Madcap, meaning amusingly eccentric, is me at my core. Many of the flavors and treats I offer are combos that shouldn't work, but turn out fantastic. It just fits. Madcap fits me, fits my bakes and it works. The first time we said it, I knew that would be my brand.
"If you know, you know" is a saying that has been used by our customers beginning after our first pop-up event. Our Butterfinger Cupcakes quickly became a fan favorite and started the trend. Now "IKYKY" is frequently used to describe our bakes. Try one of our treats and you'll understand "IYKYK"; you might find yourself using it too!
We are a pop-up bakery, but also take special orders. My husband is involved in the car audio world, so a lot of our pop-ups are at car audio competitions and car shows. We are working on scheduling other events outside the car world, so keep an eye on our events page for future pop-ups or bake events.
